7-panel folds.

When printing folded brochures, the choice of a 7-panel brochure is excellent if we need to convey a lot of information in the most handy way. Their applications are many and varied, from cultural calendars to instruction manuals.

7-panel brochures

In our online print shop this folding brochure is the widest available: we offer it in two different finished sizes: 9.7 x 15 cm and 9.7 x 21 cm, with an open size of 67.9 cm in both cases. This is the main feature of 7-panel folded brochures: their record width.

According to our experience, accordion or zig-zag is the most commonly used type of folding for 7-panel folded brochures. For this reason, in the examples just mentioned, all panels must be the same size (9.7 cm).

7-panel brochures entail a high number of fold lines (6), so weight of available papers should be rather light. In our online print shop, the maximum available paper weightsfor 7-panel brochures are: 100 g for offset papers and 130 g for coated papers.

Where is the front cover of a folded brochure placed?

Suppose we have the brochure's outer side in sight; the cover is placed on the rightmost panel.

If we then turn the brochure and look at the inner side, then the back cover is also placed on the right. In other words, the front and back cover are on different sides and on the rightmost panel.

Technical considerations when designing folded brochures

The document's size should be the brochure's open size.

In case of 9.7 x 21 cm brochures, then we have to create a document composed of 2 pages sized 67.9 x 21 cm. In this document, a 3 mm bleed area must be defined and the elements that must bleed off should also extend 3 mm beyond the page edges.

It is advisable to respect a safety margin of 3 to 5 mm around the 4 page edges, in which no element should be placed (other than those that extend out of the page). It is essential to respect this rule; otherwise, when trimming the brochure, elements placed very close to the paper edge may be partially or totally sliced.

When printing folded brochures , do not neglect the issue of good resolution of pictures and logos. Image resolution must be high enough as to guarantee quality reproduction.
